What is anxiety?

Anxiety is a commonly Diagnosed Mental Health problem.

Everyone knows the feeling of Anxiety, the fear that something unpleasant is about to happen, the tightening in your stomach.
People often become Anxious when they face stress or difficult situations such as illness, Unemployment, moving house, or Job Interviews.
Mild Anxiety prior to an Examination, for example, can be useful as it can make you feel more alert and enhance your performance.

Mild, short-term Anxiety is extremely common, however, for some people anxiety can become so extreme that it is Disabling.
A doctor may make a diagnosis of Generalised Anxiety Disorder if a person has been experiencing a high level of Tension and Anxiety for several months for no clear reason.

Anxiety often goes hand-in-hand with Depression, making it difficult for doctors to diagnose whether an individual has Depression with Symptoms of Anxiety, or Anxiety problems that are making them Depressed. It can be related to an unsatisfactory relationship.

Anxiety

Talking treatments or Counselling  often Help.

Counselling alone can be effective in treating Anxiety for some people, for others a combination of Counselling and Medication may be the most effective treatment. Counselling aims to help people recognise the Stress factors in their lives, and work out Coping Strategies in order to be able to deal with these. Online Counselling is available to people who find it difficult to leave their home, or feel uncomfortable meeting new people face to face.  With Online Counselling you can receive help from a Professionally Qualified Counsellor, in the safety of your own home.   You can also avoid the waiting lists  frequently experienced by people accessing this service through the NHS, by contacting a Professionally Qualified Online Counsellor.

Relaxation Training

Relaxation training can reduce anxiety if you practise regularly, however, it can be difficult to find the motivation to practise alone. For this reason, relaxation training is often provided online. This treatment aims to train people to relax their muscles, to breathe slowly and deeply, and to clear the mind of worrying thoughts. After a few sessions, most people are able to relax rapidly and use this new skill at times of stress. Your online therapist can teach and support you in learning some very simple techniques, which will be effective in helping to reduce anxiety.

Which treatment may be right for me?

Individuals respond to different treatments in different ways. What works well for one person may not work well for another. Speaking to your doctor will help you weigh up the pros and cons of the different treatments available. Your doctor should be able to provide you with information on how treatments work, how effective they are, and what side-effects you may experience. Drug treatment may be extremely effective for some people, others may find talking treatments the best option. Others may find a combination of drug treatment and talking treatments or relaxation training works best for them.

What can I do to help myself?

There are many ways in which you can help yourself cope with anxiety. It is important that you come to understand the nature of your illness, its causes and symptoms. Talking your symptoms through with a Qualified Counsellor will help you to decide whether you can be helped by Online Counselling.

When you are feeling Anxious, it can be difficult to see beyond the day-to-day problems in life. It can be very difficult finding the energy and motivation to actively try and help yourself.  A Qualified, Professional Counsellor can Support  you with your issues, and the fact that you can receive this Online Counselling via Email, or Online, without leaving your home is something that many sufferers from Anxiety see as a huge positive and very helpful.

Here are two things you can do to actively reduce Anxiety.  Over a period of a few weeks you may see a significant improvement.

1. Exercise More

One way how to stop Anxiety is to make sure you have a form of release, like exercise. It's a great Stress reliever and not only that, but the more in shape you get, the more confidence you begin to have with your body. How does this help your Anxiety? Well, a lot of the times when you're having a panic attack you feel as if you're having a heart attack and/or dying, nothing could be further from the truth. Now if you know you're a lot healthier, this will translate to you having more confidence about your body and thus you not getting caught in a fear loop that there is something wrong with the way your body is operating.

2. Eat Right

Eating healthily will also help you to keep the Anxiety at bay. Have you ever noticed that after you eat a big meal your heart rate may start to increase or you may feel a little Anxious? Cut out all processed foods from your diet and you'll experience less Anxiety. In addition to the processed foods, limit your caffeine and sugar intake as those both make you more anxious.

Now these tips will definitely help and get you on the right track, If you really want to learn how to stop anxiety though, you'll want to look into a program that can get to the root of the problem. Sharing your worries with a Counsellor will help you to get to the root of the problem.

If you only do one thing, do that thing Now, contact a Counsellor right Now, you will have taken the first and most difficult step to recovery.
